Palmerston, the Foreign Office’s resident moggy, has announced his retirement so that he can ‘spend more time relaxing away from the limelight.’
In a ‘letter’ to his fans, the black and white cat says he has moved away from Whitehall and had been working from home, like many, due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Now, however, he is escaping to the country.
He has been involved in many altercations with Larry, Number 10’s mouse catcher.
Palmerston has more than 105,000 Twitter followers.
He was adopted from Battersea in 2016.
