Young people are putting their lives in danger by hanging out in abandoned buildings in Newtownabbey.
And as it’s the weekend, police are warning parents to be wary of where their children are at all times. They say they receive numerous calls at the weekend, regarding youths and general anti-social behaviour.
Recently they have received reports of groups of youths using abandoned buildings as ‘hang-outs’. Police say there are many health and safety concerns.
“Not only are abandoned buildings dangerous and perhaps structurally unstable but they may contain hazardous substances such as asbestos.
“A gentle reminder to parents to please be aware of where your children are and what they are getting up to.
“Parents, please make sure your kids are nowhere near these places,” said a police spokesperson.
