A man was injured after being slashed in the face and stomach with a sharp object in what police are calling a ‘hate crime’ in Whiteabbey this morning.
The incident happened just before 7:30am outside a care facility on the Shore Road.
The victim received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
The assailant is a white man, approximately 25-30 years old. He is around 5ft 9/10” tall, skinny but muscular and he was wearing a white/grey hoody and was cleanly shaven.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact police at Newtownabbey on 101. Police are treating this incident as a hate crime.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” said a police spokesperson.
