The controversial Fyre Festival 2.0 is happening, according to Ja Rule.
If you have seen the Netflix documentary Fyre Festival: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, then you’ll be surprised to learn that the rapper is apparently planning a sequel to Fyre Festival.
The original Fyre Festival was set up by American entrepreneur Billy McFarland and Ja Rule, and it was an attempt to put on a Coachella-style festival on a private island in the Bahamas.
They promised partygoers yacht parties featuring models, top of the range catering and performances from big names in the music industry. However, the festival degenerated into chaos with flooded tents, a lack of food and water, and no accommodation for over 300 guests who had all paid handsomely.
Speaking to TMZ, Ja Rule said he’s determined to go ahead with the plans.
“I’m not ashamed of Fyre at all. Because man, the idea, it was brilliant. It was f****** beyond brilliant … It was amazing, but it wasn’t what I dreamed it of being, and what I envisioned of it being, and what I wanted it to be. It wasn’t done properly.
“In the midst of chaos, there’s opportunity. Fyre is the most iconic festival that never was. I have plans to create the iconic festival, but you didn’t hear that from me,” he said.
