Jobs are set to be created in Belfast after planning permission was granted for an aquarium in the Titanic Quarter.
The green light was given at the council’s Planning Committee meeting.
The application, by reefLIVE for the two-storey structure on land at Queen’s Road, includes a Coral Reef ocean tank, exhibition space with five zones, an education room, small retail area and an aquarium café with outside seating.
The development is estimated to generate 80-100 jobs during construction and 51 full-time jobs once operational.
It will also include landscaping, car parking and public realm works.
The Aquarium will be located opposite The Titanic Hotel and close to other visitor attractions in the area including Titanic Belfast.
Planning Committee Chair, Councillor John Hussey, said this is further good news for the city and its journey to recovery with the planned development seeing the creation of up to 150 jobs.
