Tuning up for success is new musical duo O’Reilly and Vincent.
Shropshire poet Rod Vincent and Dublin musician Finn O’Reilly have just released their debut single, Men & Books,’ from their forthcoming album ‘Clearance Sale.’
Rod’s love of writing began whilst growing up, and he became a fan of Samuel Beckett. Rod’s poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Poetry Ireland. He has also read at the West Cork Literary Festival and the Dublin International Literary Festival. His back-catalogue of verse led to this exciting collaboration with Finn O’Reilly. These were verses that Rod had crafted for years, and pieces of writing that didn’t fit with established poetry journals. Finn was able to confidently take the words and combine them with music.
Finn began playing the cello, aged 5. He has composed over 70 songs and is currently working on an album with his band The Finnjamins, the first three songs of which have already been released.
The story began recently when Finn visited Rod in Shropshire, and for fun, put one of Rod’s poems to music. Ten more songs came about, so Rod and Finn decided to record them. The songs will be released as the album, Clearance Sale.
Finn has also put tunes to another eight of Rod’s lyrics and these songs form a second album, Uturo is Breathing.
Men & Books is available on Spotify and all major digital platforms.
