Novak Djokovic is to be deported from Australia after losing his court appeal to stay and play in the Australian Open.
Judges rejected the appeal after the Australian government cancelled Djokovic’s visa on health grounds.
The tennis player who is unvaccinated against Covid had hoped to stay and defend his Open title.
Djokovic said he was ‘extremely disappointed’.
However, the Serbian tennis player said he respected the court’s decision.
The argument was that Djokovic’s presence in Australia might risk ‘civil unrest’ as he is a ‘talisman of anti-vaccination sentiment’.
