Shortage of bread on shelves as Hovis strike continues

Striking Hovis workers are warning of continued bread shortages in shops if their pay dispute is not resolved.

The workers at the Belfast plant say they remain at the picket lines until their dispute over salary is resolved.

Hovis is responsible for baking around half the bread which is on Northern Ireland’s shelves.

Shop supplies have dwindled over the past two days.

The workers are demanding equal pay with mainland workers.

Unions representing the striking workers have rejected a 3% increase offered by the company.
