Outrage as horse is put down after horrific Grand National fall

Grand National horse Up For Review lost his life during the race today.

The Willie Mullins-trained horse, ridden by Danny Mullins, fell at the first fence. The 10-year-old sadly had to be put down. The horse, which was at 25-1, is the first Grand National horse to be put down since 2012.


ITV later showed a replay of the race from the second fence to avoid broadcasting the horrific fall.

General Principle was taken away from Aintree in an animal ambulance after suffering superficial injuries, a day after two horses were put down.

The race was won by Gordon Elliott’s Tiger Roll, who became the first horse since Red Rum to win back-to-back Nationals, under Davy Russell.

The fall has caused anger among animal lovers.
