Police have arrested a 36-year-old man following the report of an attempted hijacking at Great Victoria Street in Belfast City Centre last night (Thursday, June 27).
A man reportedly got into the passenger seat of a parked grey Hyundai car at around 10:30pm and threatened the woman driver with a concealed weapon.
The driver opened her door and called out to passers-by for assistance before the man got out of the car and made off on foot.
The suspect was arrested a short time later at Amelia Street on suspicion of attempted hijacking, possession of an offensive weapon and threats to kill. He remains in custody at this time.
