Two legally-held guns were stolen from a car during a robbery in Newtownards on Saturday morning.
The incident happened at Killynether Road at around 5:30am on Saturday (24 August).
Police say a man was in the area when he was approached by two unknown men.
The man was told to lie on the ground, and two legally held firearms were stolen from a car parked in the area.
It was reported that the man was punched in the mouth by one of the men during the incident. They made off in an unknown vehicle.
Detective Sergeant Deehan said enquiries are continuing and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or noted any suspicious vehicles in the area at this time, to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 381 24/08/19.
