A bank customer has lost over £2000 from an account due to an online scam.
Police in Larne have been made aware of this scam and are asking people to exercise caution when online or carrying out transactions.
Police say the customer was having difficulties with their online account and looked up the customer services number. The customer phoned the customer services number, but then received two calls from what was believed to be Northern Ireland numbers.
The customer was sure this was a call from the bank as the caller knew their details.
As a result of this scam call, the customer lost over £2000 from online bank accounts.
“Please be cautious online. We all need to stay one step ahead of the criminal. If you have any doubt about a call or transaction online, don’t do it,” said a police spokesperson.
