Cars have been stoned on the M2 motorway.
The incidents have occurred on the M2 at both Arthur Bridge in Newtownabbey and at the Greencastle off-slip in North Belfast.
Police say if this behaviour continues, someone will be either killed or they will suffer life-changing injuries.
“If you were the driver of a vehicle travelling at up to 70mph on the M2 and you are hit by a stone and your windscreen crashes, then you don’t stand much of a chance,” said a police spokesperson.
Neighbourhood officers from the Castle Team in Tennent Street and Neighbourhood officers from Newtownabbey are working together with local community groups, councillors and statutory partner agencies to combat ‘this extremely serious issue.’
Police are reminding young people they could be arrested.
“So if you are involved, stop it. If you are caught you could end up being arrested and you could even be responsible for somebody’s death. If you have any information, please call us on 101 or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111,” added a spokesperson.
