Two masked man, armed with ‘large kitchen knives’ have stolen cash and cigarettes from a shop on the Albertbridge Road in East Belfast.
They threatened staff, before fleeing in the direction of Glenallen Street.
Detectives investigating the armed robbery last night (Thursday, 25th March) are appealing for witnesses.
The incident happened just after 9:40pm.
One of the suspects is described as being approximately 5ft 7” tall, of a ‘stocky’ build and possibly aged in his 40s. The second suspect is believed to have been wearing a blue jacket and ‘camouflage combat’ trousers. He is described as being of a normal build and around 5ft 9” to 5ft 10” tall and he spoke with what was described as a ‘raspy’ voice.
Detective Sergeant Gardiner said this was a terrifying and traumatic ordeal for staff but thankfully no one was physically injured.
“We want to hear from anyone who was in the area between 9:40pm and 9:45pm and saw two men acting suspiciously, or who has information about this crime, to call our detectives at Musgrave on 101, quoting reference number 1958 of 25/03/21,” he said.
