The first African-born leader of one of Ireland’s main churches has said ‘all people matter to God.’
Rev Dr Sahr Yambasu is a native of Sierra Leone and he succeeds Rev Dr Tom McKnight as President of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
He was speaking at the installation ceremony which was held in south Belfast on Wednesday night.
His theme for the year is ‘People First, Under God.’
He thanked the people of the Methodist Church for giving him the opportunity.
“To God be all the praise and honour. Amen,” he said.
