WhatsApp users report problems

WhatsApp users have been unable to send or receive messages, amid an outage on Tuesday morning, according to Business Insider.

Down Detector received more than 70,000 reports of an outage.

The outage has affected the UK and some European countries.

Users were able to access the app and the chat stream, but they weren’t able to send or receive messages.

Calls were not connecting either.

The single or double ticks next to the message that indicates that a message has been delivered, have not been appearing for users.

WhatsApp has around 2 billion monthly users, but with significant outages like this becoming more commonplace, could a share of these be swayed?

Information compiled by Digital Funnel shows that global searches for “WhatsApp Alternative” have increased 2400% since 8am (GMT) this morning when users first began to notice the outage of the service.
