Motorcyclist who died in Carrickfergus collision is named

A man has died following a single-vehicle collision in the Carrickfergus area on Wednesday evening, 30^th September 2026.

He was Philip McMeekan, 52, from the Comber area.

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit said: “At approximately 7.25pm, we received a report of a single vehicle collision on the Shore Road, Carrickergus involving a Triumph Rocket motorcycle.

“Our officers attended, alongside colleagues from other emergency services, but sadly Mr McMeekan was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The Shore Road, which was closed for a time, has now fully reopened.”
