Significant damage was caused to a property, after the fire from a vehicle which was targeted in an arson attack in Newtownabbey, spread in the early hours of Friday morning (31st July).
At approximately 12.20am, police received a report of a car on fire in the Bleach Green Avenue area.
Officers along with the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fire, which had spread to a neighbouring property, was extinguished.
It is believed that an accelerant had been poured through a smashed window of the vehicle, which was destroyed in the blaze and significant damage was caused to the property.
Detective Sergeant Crothers said: “This is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life and enquiries are ongoing. I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious in the area or to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with the investigation, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 30 31/07/26.”
