The annual Belfast Mela Carnival parade is taking place on Saturday (22 August). It will assemble in Writers Square at noon and proceed along the following route from 12.30pm: Donegall Street – Waring Street – Bridge Street – Castle Place – Donegall Place – Donegall Square North, where it will disperse at approximately 1pm.
There will be traffic disruption around the city centre while the parade progresses and vehicle access will be restricted on the above roads. Additionally, Hill Street will be closed to all traffic while the parade progresses.
Meanwhile, please note, sections of the M3 will be closed from Bridge End to M2 foreshore this weekend, with traffic diversions in place. This will cause additional delays, and we would strongly advise all motorists to plan in advance, leaving additional time for their journey.
Please seek an alternative route where possible.
Police will have an appropriate and proportionate policing operation in place to ensure the safety of all.
