BTS’s ARIRANG World Tour is pumping £15.4m into London’s economy, but here’s what a regional date could mean for Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester…

BTS are estimated to generate £15.4 million in non-ticket economic activity through their two ARIRANG World Tour dates at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. But new data from travel company Superbreak suggests that fans outside London are sitting on an untapped opportunity worth millions to their local economies.

As part of Superbreak’s Put Britain on the Setlist research into the economic value of major 2026 UK concert tours, the company modelled what a single additional BTS stadium date could mean for five regional UK cities. Cardiff came out on top.

A BTS show at Principality Stadium in Cardiff could generate an estimated £7.7 million in non-ticket consumer spend for Cardiff, including hotel stays, restaurants, travel, merchandise and local tourism. Each day. That figure is higher than the equivalent for Manchester (£6.4m), Edinburgh (£7.2m) or Glasgow (£5.4m), and would generate close to 5,000 hotel room nights in the city.

Hyunwoo, editor of K-Crush, a UK-based Korean pop culture site, said: “ARMY, the name for BTS’s fanbase, who live outside London have been watching this tour from a distance. BTS sold out two stadium dates in the capital within hours, which tells you everything about the demand. The conversation in the fandom right now is whether regional dates are still possible, and this data puts a real number on what that would mean for those cities.

“Cardiff’s Principality Stadium holds over 73,000 people. The fact that a BTS show there would generate more economic activity than an equivalent show in Manchester is a striking finding. Welsh ARMY have been vocal about regional dates. This shows exactly what they’d be bringing with them.”

And James Lavers, UK Travel Manager for Superbreak, said, “Major concerts are no longer just about ticket sales. When fans travel to see Harry Styles, Take That, or The Weeknd, they book hotels, trains, restaurants, taxis, drinks, merch and plan a full weekend around the show. That can mean a lot of spending for local businesses.

“Our research estimates that this year’s stadium and arena gigs could generate around £825m in direct non-ticket consumer spend. But that value is not evenly spread, with most of that money going into businesses in Greater London.

“However, artists like Take That show how major tours can spread this spend across the country. More regional dates mean more hotel stays, more restaurant bookings, more taxis, more drinks, and more fans discovering cities they might not otherwise visit.

“Our Put Britain on the Setlist campaign is about recognising live music as a driver of city breaks, local business and regional visitor spend. Fans are already willing to travel for the artists they love. The question is whether enough of Britain is making it onto the tour map.”

Superbreak’s wider “Put Britain on the Setlist” research covers 196 UK arena, stadium and major outdoor headline concert dates across 36 artists in 2026, estimating total non-ticket Gig Trip Spend of around £825m. Of that, approximately £525m sits in Greater London, with just £300m, around 36%, reaching regional cities.

BTS are among seven artists in the dataset currently playing London-only UK dates.
