A cat has been shot by a pellet gun near Carrickfergus.
And the owner Steven Connor from Eden has condemned the person responsible for shooting Kiki. He said he was disgusted at the attack.
The six-month-old kitten had emergency surgery to try to remove the pellet. However, the vet was unable to remove it as it was too deeply embedded and too close to the nerves in her head.
“She is only six-months-old. This was no accident, this was a kill shot,” said Steven.
“Whoever did this was intent on killing her for no reason. She’s a house cat who gets out for an hour or two each day and when it’s raining she doesn’t even go out,” he said.
Steven said the PSNI has been contacted with a view to prosecuting the person responsible for aiming the pellet gun at Kiki.
“I’m just glad she’s okay. I’m more annoyed that I live in an area where someone has access to something so dangerous that can cause this much damage.
“Just keep an eye on your pets people especially if you live in Eden,” he added.
