Chas Hodges, one half of legendary pop duo Chas and Dave – has passed away at the age of 74.
Chas and Dave were at the peak of their fame in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as Rabbit and Snooker Loopy.
Their Twitter account stated that Chas recently underwent treatment for oesophageal cancer but passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of the morning.
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our very own Chas Hodges. Despite receiving successful treatment for oesophageal cancer recently, Chas suffered organ failure and passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning. pic.twitter.com/bwxqfHUjUg

The statement on Chas and Dave’s Twitter page read: “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our very own Chas Hodges.”
It stated the pianist and vocalist had died from organ failure.
