A ‘viable bomb’ has been found under a police officer’s car parked at Shandon Park Golf Club in south east Belfast.
The golf club, which is close to PSNI headquarters, was evacuated this afternoon.
The man spotted the device after playing a round of golf.
Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene.
The murder attempt has been condemned by the Chief Constable George Hamilton.
“I utterly condemn the attempted murder of one my officers in Belfast today. My thoughts are with the officer and their family. Those who carried out this despicable attack have nothing to offer Northern Ireland but a return to the pain and suffering of the past,” he said.
