Home Alone is being rebooted by Disney for the new generation of viewers, according to Deadline.
CEO Bob Iger made the announcement that a new version of the 1990 classic is being made to stream on a new service Disney+.
Mr Iger didn’t share any details about who would be starring as Kevin McCallister or when the movie will be released, but said it would be a reimagined version ‘for a new generation’.
He said the Disney+ streaming service will eventually include reboots of four franchises from its newly acquired Fox movie library. He cited Home Alone, Night At the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper By the Dozen.
The streaming service launches on November 12 and Mr Iger said that they will be “reimagined” for “a new generation.”
Over the last two years, Disney has seen major changes. It announced that it was developing its streaming service – one that will offer content from big names such as Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars. But, Disney’s library were not viewed as enough content for the service if it was going to compete with the likes of Netflix.
Disney began finalising its acquisition of 21st Century Fox in late 2017. One of the primary reasons behind this purchase according to Disney CEO Bob Iger was to gain access to more titles.
However, some aren’t happy:
Nooooooooooooo.@DisneyStudios Don't do it. You'll just make it moody and crap.

Hollywood clearly struggling for ideas, we do not need a reboot of it not now, not ever, Home Alone 3 and 4 should be evidence enough
