There has been widespread condemnation following the abuse received by England players in the wake of the team’s Euro defeat to Italy.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson this morning condemned the racists who abused Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho after the England players missed their penalties during last night’s final.

Mr Johnson said: ‘This England team deserve to be lauded as heroes, not racially abused on social media.’

Thee Football Association has also condemned the abuse as did the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
