A controlled explosion has been carried out on an historic WW2-type grenade in Larne, described as ‘viable.’
Police say a report was received of a suspicious object at Narrow Gauge Road on Tuesday afternoon (17 October.).
Cordons were put in place after the historic grenade was found by a member of the public who was carrying out work in the area.
Ammunition Technical Officers attended and a controlled explosion was carried out on the object, which had been confirmed as viable and was subsequently taken away by police.
Inspector Ash added: “We would like to thank the local community for their patience during the public safety operation.”
