A number of firefighters remain at the scene of a gorse fire on the Cavehill this morning.
Residents in greater Belfast reported seeing clouds of smoke billowing from the landmark on Wednesday evening.
Firefighters from NIFRS tackled the blaze overnight.
Last night officials said there was no risk to life or property, but residents were asked to avoid the area and keep their doors and windows closed.
Earlier this year, firefighters fought a number of gorse fires across Northern Ireland, affecting the Mournes and Cavehill.
Once again North Belfast watches Cavehill burn. During a season that we often see new life flourish on our hill we're instead witnessing and sadly hearing (close to mums back door) the malicious destruction of wildlife and its habitat. Depressing. pic.twitter.com/BY198jcs9m
