The giant rainbow tower at the Coachella music and arts festival in California reminds some Northern Irish folk of the front of one of our most popular and best loved attractions of all time – Barry’s in Portrush.
The seven-storey Spectra structure which is open to festival goers has rainbow-coloured panels and allows visitors to explore the relationship between light and landscape as they climb the six floors to a viewing deck.
The Perspex window panels reflect and refract the sunlight, which gives rise to intense colours and allowing colourful views of the grounds in the Coachella Valley. At night, the LED ceiling lights illuminate the panels.
The creator is UK firm Newsubstance. But if you can’t make it to Coachella, Barry’s offers the next best option with just as much colour, even on a rainy day in Northern Ireland…..
