North Antrim MP Ian Paisley Jr faces suspension from the House of Commons.
He’s due to make a statement today as he faces one of longest MP suspensions in history.
It follows recommendations from the Commons Standards Commissioner after the MP failed to declare two family holidays paid for by the Sri Lankan Government, before lobbying to the Prime Minister.
The Committee found him guilty of ‘serious misconduct and found his actions ‘were of a nature to bring the House of Commons into disrepute.’
A change to the law means that an MP who receives a suspension of more than 10 days must face a by-election if 10 per cent of the voters in their constituency sign a petition asking for that.
