Man (25) arrested following police pursuit in Belfast

A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a police pursuit in south Belfast yesterday (Saturday, 14 November) morning.

Officers on patrol signalled for the driver of a silver Mercedes, who was travelling on East Bridge Street, to stop.

However, the vehicle continued on, and a pursuit commenced.

The Mercedes continued along Ormeau Avenue and Dublin Road, and onto Donegall Road where it was involved in a collision at the junction of Sandy Row at around 11:45am.

Two other vehicles, along with the Mercedes were involved, and damage was caused to all three vehicles. A woman driving one of the vehicles was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police subsequently arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of a number of driving-related offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

He has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
