A man armed with a Samurai sword has escaped with cash from an off licence on the Woodstock Road in east Belfast.
No one was injured in the incident which happened at around 8.45pm on Sunday evening.
Police say the man entered the shop and demanded cash from staff.
A sum of money was handed over before the suspect left on foot in the direction of the Cregagh Road.
He is described as being around 5ft 8” tall, approximately 40-years-old, and is of thin build with dark facial stubble. He was wearing a grey flat cap, a black raincoat and a dark plaid shirt. The sword is described as being around 2ft long with a black handle and black blade.
Detectives are investigating and they are appealing to anyone who can assist them with their enquiries to contact them at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1840 15/09/19.
