The man who was arrested by police investigating the killing of a primary school teacher in Co Offaly in the Republic of Ireland has been released without charge.
Ashling Murphy, 23, was killed on Wednesday afternoon as she ran along the banks of the Grand Canal. Her death has sparked outrage on social media.
A 40-year-old man had been arrested for questioning but late on Thursday night, Gardai said that the man was now ‘no longer a suspect’.
Gardai have once again appealed for witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
They are particularly looking for anyone who saw a ‘Falcon Storm mountain bike’ with ‘straight handlebars and distinctive yellow/green front forks’ to speak to police.
Officers earlier said they believe the killer acted alone.
The incident happened at around 4pm on Wednesday.
