A man in his 20s sustained a broken finger after being bitten during an assault in Ballymurphy in west Belfast.
The incident happened around 11.30pm on Monday evening at Glenalina Green.
Police received a report that a man aged in his 20s was walking in the area when a car pulled up and a number of men got out.
One of the men approached the man and began to verbally abuse him before physically assaulting him. The man sustained cuts and bruising and a broken finger as a result of the attack, according to police.
Detective Sergeant Paddy Conlan said police enquiries into this incident are ongoing and he is appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information which could assist with the investigation to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1577 25/02/19.
