Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman was watched by around 17.1 million Americans during the first five days of its release on Netflix.
That’s according to Nielsen data released last week.
The Nielsen figures show a huge interest in the movie, which cost around $160 million to make.
The movie is expected to be a major contender at the Oscars. And it would be a real coup for Netflix which has never won the Best Picture category at the Academy Awards.
Last December’s thriller Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock, clocked up nearly 26 million American viewers in its first seven days. Netflix also said that the show was watched by 45 million members around the world in its first seven days of release in December 2018.
The Irishman is already showing its popularity through nominations…..
