Millions set to tune in to watch wedding of the year – but what will Meghan Markle wear?

The biggest event of the year, the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, gets underway at noon.

The couple have broken tradition by choosing to have their wedding on a Saturday – normally royal weddings are held during the week.

Ms Markle meanwhile says her father will be attending the wedding.

In a statement, she said she had “always cared” for her father and hoped he could be given the space he needed to focus on his health.

Mr Markle had been due to meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh for the first time this week.

Interestingly, their selected date falls on the same Saturday as the FA Cup final at Wembley. It’s a fixture that the Duke of Cambridge usually attends as president of the Football Association to present the trophy.

And there’s good news on the weather front. The royal couple can expect a sunny but breezy day, with temperatures rising to 21C in the afternoon.

Kensington Palace has said that roughly 600 guests will be at the wedding. That’s in stark contrast to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who wed in front of 1,900 guests – a number just shy of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who invited 2,000 guests to their wedding back in 1947

Kensington Palace also confirmed via Twitter that the couple would like donations in lieuof presents to go to a number of causes including: CHIVA (Children’s HIV Association), Crisis (a UK-based homelessness charity), the Myna Mahila Foundation (a charity that supports women in Mumbai’s slums), Scotty’s Little Soldiers (which helps bereaved Armed Forces children), StreetGames (a foundation using sport to change lives), Surfers against Sewage and The Wilderness Foundation UK (which promotes the enjoyment of nature).

Meghan has already established herself as a fashion icon and it’s believed her dress will influence the immediate future of wedding dresses.
