Netflix is removing a controversial scene depicting a suicide from its drama 13 Reasons Why.
It follows advice from medical experts, the company said on its Twitter account on Tuesday.
As we prepare to launch season three later this summer, we’ve been mindful about the ongoing debate around the show. So on the advice of medical experts, including Dr. Christine Moutier, chief medical officer at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, we’ve decided with creator Brian Yorkey and the producers to edit the scene in which Hannah takes her own life from season one.

The show depicts the suicide of the protagonist in the last episode of season 1, with a scene involving Hannah cutting her wrists in the bath.
The company said on Twitter that on the advice of medical experts it had “decided with the creator Brian Yorkey and the producers of 13 Reasons Why to edit the scene in which Hannah takes her own life.”
The show has drawn criticism with many claiming the show glorifies teen suicide.
