No further deaths, but eight new cases of COVID-19

There have been no further deaths as a result of COVID-19, according to the Department of Health.

There are however eight new cases in Northern Ireland.

Forty new cases were confirmed over the weekend, one of the sharpest rises in weeks.

The Newry and Mourne district has experienced the largest increase in positive cases over the past seven days. Mid and East Antrim too has seen a moderate rise.

There are calls for face coverings to be mandatory and concern has been expressed on social media about the small number of people using coverings.

Meanwhile, you can download the new contact tracing app.
