It’s been over a decade since the Olsen twins launched their fashion line and now they’re adding a menswear collection to their portfolio.
The fraternal twins, who first appeared on comedy series Full House in the late 80s and early 90s, founded The Row, a luxury womenswear label where a cashmere top will set you back over $1,000. This is the first outing however for a full menswear collection which includes denim pieces and knitwear, but the main focus is the tailored separates and suits, which range in cost from $3,950 to $5,795.
According to The Wall Street Journal, The Row’s president, David Schulte, says the industry is lacking the men’s equivalent of the sophisticated ease that the label has offered women.
“There are plenty of hoodies out there, but there’s not a lot of places to go buy a beautiful suit,” he said.
Now 32, the twins work closely together. Ashley, however is considering moving back to Los Angeles from New York. Mary-Kate married Olivier Sarkozy in 2015, a French banker and the half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. She lives in New York.
The Olsens say their experiences with costumes as actresses has led to their obsession with clothing details.
“Our whole lives we spent most of our time in fittings,” says Mary-Kate is quoted in the Wall Street Journal. “Because we’re so petite, we had to cut clothes to our size.’
