Picture this – move over Pablo because a pig called Pigcasso which was rescued from a slaughter house has been creating abstract paintings for the past few years.
The South African arty porker spends hours in front of her easel at Farm Sanctuary SA near Cape Town, creating works of art, and she even signs them with her snout.
According to her owner and the sanctuary’s founder, Joanne Lefson, art came naturally to Pigcasso. After she was rescued, Joanne gave Pigcasso some items to play with and she immediately was attracted toward paint brushes.
Pigasso’s paintings sell for thousands of dollars, and she has a collaboration with watchmaker Swatch.
“For some reason she took a knack to the paintbrushes and it wasn’t long before she was dancing the brush across the canvas and selling artworks all over the world,” Joanne told CBS News.
Pigcasso sells her artwork to benefit the sanctuary. She uses a tailor-made brush and non-toxic paint to create the expressionist masterpieces.
