Four of Korea’s biggest K-Pop companies are collaborating to come up with a new global music festival, styled on Coachella.
HYBE, YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment are reportedly planning to organise a large-scale festival for K-Pop fans.
It is hoped this event ‘Fanomenon’, could become a Korean equivalent to Coachella.
Discussions however, remain at an early stage
Hyunwoo, the editor at K-Crush a K-pop and Korean culture site, says, “This is potentially the most significant moment in K-Pop’s history as a live music format. A festival lineup featuring BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids and aespa under one roof is something fans have dreamed about for years. The ambition is completely justified. But the venue situation is the real test.
“BLACKPINK headlined Wembley to 90,000 people last year, a venue Seoul simply cannot currently match. BTS had to open their 2026 world tour at a roofless football stadium in Goyang because Seoul’s largest arena is closed until December, and the dedicated K-Culture Valley project won’t be finished until 2030 at the earliest. If Fanomenon is going to equal or surpass Coachella, South Korea needs to build the infrastructure to match the vision. The artists are already world class. The stages need to catch up.”
Meanwhile, BIGBANG announced at Coachella that their 20th anniversary world tour will be starting in August of this year.
