A P&O ferry was adrift off the coast of Larne this afternoon ‘due to a mechanical issue’.
The European Causeway, which can carry just over 400 passengers, was left bobbing on the sea about five miles from Larne Harbour.
Due to a mechanical issue with the Causeway in the Irish Sea, tugs from Larne and Belfast were deployed to guide it back to port. Once the ship is back in Port a full inspection will take place.

It set sail from Cairnryan at midday and was due in Larne Harbour at 2pm.
P&O tweeted to say the incident occurred due to a mechanical issue in the Irish Sea.
It said a full inspection would take place in port.
Tugs from Larne and Belfast were deployed to guide it back to port.
