A pub in west Cork is asking customers to hang up their mobile phones and to generate more conversation among themselves.
The Anchor Bar in Courtmacsherry has asked drinkers to leave the premises if they have to take a call.
A sign outlining the policy hung up above the bar states: “Patrons: Perhaps you could refrain from using mobile phone.”
Since the pub was featured on RTÉ, the bar has attracted plenty of media attention.
“Pubs are places where you come in and you engage,” proprietor Billy Fleming told RTÉ News.
And he said that locals at his pub support his decision to ban the use of mobiles.
