Prime minister Boris Johnson has cancelled his daily coronavirus news briefing and will instead make a ‘statement to the country’ tonight (Monday) after 8pm.
It’s understood he is chairing an emergency COBRA meeting following the spread of coronavirus and the alarming death toll.
The Prime Minister warned the UK is heading towards a lockdown, after appeals to people to stay inside were ignored on Sunday which was Mother’s Day.
Photos appeared on social media of people flocking to tourist hotspots as if they were marking a Bank Holiday.
The message is STAY AT HOME.
