An older woman was left badly shaken after her house in Chichester Avenue in north Belfast was ransacked this morning.
An 18-year-old man has since been charged with burglary, going equipped for burglary and possession of a Class B controlled drug. He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court later this morning (Tuesday).
Detective Inspector Wilson said a man was reported to have entered a house shortly after 5am.
A number of items were taken during the incident and the property was ransacked, according to police.
“An older woman was inside the property and, although not injured, was left badly shaken following the incident,” said Detective Inspector Wilson.
Police enquiries are continuing and they are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 294 27/5/19.
