Toy chain store The Entertainer is bucking the festive window display trend with a nativity scene in all of its shops.
The installation features a sign wishing shoppers a Happy Christmas, as well as a reminder of ‘the reason for the season – the birth of Jesus.’
Executive Chairman Gary Grant told The Christian Institute that as a Christian business owner, he wanted to ensure the real message is still heard. Mr Grant said the essence of Christmas is the birth of Jesus.
And he told The Christian Institute that using the window space to display the message, was his way of helping people to remember the real reason.
The Entertainer, which has a branch at CastleCourt in Belfast, is also committed to charitable work.
The company tithes ten per cent of its profits to children’s charities, and this year it’s working with The Salvation Army on The Big Toy Appeal.
That means any donations made via The Entertainer’s website will be matched to provide presents for less fortunate families.
Recently The Entertainer reported strong trading. In the 12 months to January 2018, the retailer announced a 38% increase in profit.
The retailer attributes its ability to capitalise on toy trends, such as LOL dolls which have become popular thanks to the YouTube ‘unboxing’ videos.
