A school erected a banner celebrating its pupils’ GCSE results – but failed to notice the typo on it.
The Pingle Academy, in Derbyshire, had the banner printed to congratulate the students on their record-breaking ‘GCSE’ results – but the acronym came out as ‘GSCE’ results.
Assistant principal Deb Holland said she had not detected the spelling mistake when she first proofread it.
She told the media she was an ‘idiot’ for not seeing the mistake on the banner, but did not want this error to detract from the school’s ‘amazing’ results.
“Fortunately I’m not an English teacher,” she added.
