You can watch this year’s summer solstice LIVE from Stonehenge in the comfort of your own home.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, organiser English Heritage is asking people not to travel to the monument in Somerset.
“We can’t welcome you in person this year because of the measures in place to combat coronavirus – but our live coverage of sunset and sunrise means you won’t miss a moment of this special occasion.
“Our cameras will capture the best views of Stonehenge, allowing you to connect with this spiritual place from the comfort of your own home.
“Please, to help keep everyone safe, do not travel to Stonehenge for summer solstice this year. We look forward to welcoming you in person at next year’s event,” said a spokesperson.
Stonehenge is perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument.
It was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the stone circle was erected in the Neolithic period about 2500 BC. In the early Bronze Age burial mounds were built nearby.
Today, together with Avebury, Stonehenge forms the heart of a World Heritage Site.
