Bring along your picnic box and deck chair for Andre Rieu’s Shall We Dance? This is an open-air screening of his show at the Civic Square in Mossley Mill on Saturday, July 27. Andre will welcome you to the historic town of Maastricht as he performs live from the medieval town square accompanied by his 60 piece Johann Strauss Orchestra as well as a cast of over 100 dancers. Older people who don’t have their own pets can enjoy a session at Crosskennan Animal Sanctuary.
Many people cannot keep pets of their own, for many reasons. The sanctuary receives a lot of calls from older people and people with ill health who need to rehome their pets. It can be devasting for everyone involved.
This summer it is offering older people who cannot have a pet of their own a chance to enjoy the company of the animals for a few hours. Whether it is walking, grooming, petting, older people can enjoy the sessions. Due to financial and time constraints the sessions are pre book only and they ask that you specify your chosen animal at booking so they can manage numbers. Each attendee can bring one guest (carer/family member/friend/) only. Any extra attendees must be booked as extras.
The sanctuary has already organised dates for July – Saturday 20July 11am to 1pm and 1pm -3pm, as well as Thursday 25 July 11am to 1pm.
More dates will be added for August pending the attendance and interest.

August 10th sees the Golden Thread Gallery opening its doors to the largest exhibition of contemporary Japanese art ever seen in Belfast. The exhibition titled, ‘Noise of Silence: Japanese Art Now’ includes a spectrum of styles and approaches to contemporary art making. Video installations will also feature in the Castlecourt pop-up space.
Co-curated by Golden Thread Gallery’s, Director, Peter Richards; the Director of Art Center Ongoing, Tokyo, Nozomu Ogawa; and Belfast based Japanese artist, Shiro Masuyama, the exhibition brings together for the first time ever works by exceptional Japanese artists.
Visitors have the opportunity to experience aspects of contemporary Japanese life as seen through the eyes of some of its most talented artists today. The exhibition explores Japan’s cultural issues in addition to the parallels that unite creative arts across international boundaries.
