Starting with books and a live cinema broadcast will take place in the autumn.
Renowned author Margaret Atwood’s book The Testaments – a sequel to her most celebrated work, The Handmaid’s Tale will be released. That’s on Tuesday 10 September, and as a treat for fans, a unique live event will take place. Cinema audiences will be treated to an evening in conversation with Atwood about the release of the new book, her career and why she has returned to The Handmaid’s Tale, 34 years after she wrote the original.
There will be exclusive readings by a number of actors from the new book It will be filmed live from the National Theatre, and she will also answer questions from audiences across the country.
Beneath a Twitter post containing the cover art, she joked that the novel was ‘set’ in Ireland. She added she was ‘joking.’
The evening will be broadcast to over 1,000 cinemas across the UK and USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

If you love dinosaurs, you can enjoy an educational dive into the world of prehistoric beasts at the Old Courthouse in Antrim.
Jay the T-rex and his little sister Roxie will be stomping their way into Antrim Castle Gardens this April. At the event, you can learn about fossils, meteors and how to train a ‘real life’ dinosaur all in a fully interactive show with a 14ft long blinking, roaring, stomping T-rex. The fossil dig around the gardens will give you a glimpse into the world of archaeology.

On Saturday to mark St Patrick’s Day, you can join the annual trek up Slemish Mountain where Patrick tended his sheep. The climb takes around one hour in good weather and offers spectacular views of County Antrim.
The trek kicks off at 9am. A free shuttle bus service will run continually from 9am to 3.30pm from Michelin car park to Broughshane and on to Slemish. Broughshane and District Community Association has organised free activities for all the whole family to enjoy, special offers from traders and live music.

The St Patrick’s Day Celebrations Concert is at the Burnavon in Cookstown on Friday, March 15. This year at the annual concert The Knights will perform – this is an aspiring Irish folk Harmonic band from Tyrone and Armagh. Other artists will also appear, including Cookstown Folk Club led by Donald Canavan and the Traditional Music In Schools children. The evening will be compered by TV and BBC Radio Ulster presenter and producer Lynette Fay.
