The Belfast International Arts Festival takes place from October 15 to Nov 3.
There will be a host of artists and performers from home and abroad and they will be putting on a world class display of theatre, performance art, visual art, dance and music.
The Playboy Of The Western World is on from October 8 to November 2 at The Lyric.
This is a Lyric Theatre and Dublin Theatre Festival co-production in association with the Belfast International Arts Festival. Pegeen is fed up. She’s not getting younger and is desperate to escape the confines of a life stuck in the middle of nowhere. When stranger Christy Mahon arrives at her father’s shebeen, with a story that sets the village talking, he is welcomed. But all is not as it seems, and soon the playboy’s past threatens to catch up with him.
John Millington Synge is one of Ireland’s greatest writers and a key figure in the Irish Literary Revival. Met with controversy when it was first staged at the Abbey Theatre in 1907, his brutally hilarious masterpiece, The Playboy of the Western World, is about life on the margins and the lengths we go to, to create a reality more exciting than the place we find ourselves.

This is a programme of 12 one-minute dance films commissioned by Dance Ireland. The 12 dance artists who have created the dance films span the breadth of the Irish dance community: from experienced choreographers to new dancers, from those who specialise in film to those creating their first cinematic work.

International and critically acclaimed poet Alice McCullough curates a new edition of first class contemporary poetry for our favourite on-street audio installation, Poetry Jukebox. This edition, drawn from a world-wide call for submissions, features the work of renowned poets who also self-identify as disabled.
In 2017, Belfast International Arts Festival launched the very first Poetry Jukebox on the island of Ireland. This latest edition of the Jukebox integrates specific features to enhance access for those with hearing impairment and people who use wheelchairs.
Located at CS Lewis Square this permanent installation of poems will be available 24 hours a day.
Supported by Arts Council of Northern Ireland, from National Lottery funds, Department for Communities, and Belfast City Council.

Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club return home to play Belfast’s Telegraph building as part of the UK & Irish tour to support their latest album, False Alarm.
The show is on Wednesday, October 16.
With three critically-acclaimed albums and a string of amazing live shows under their belts, Two Door Cinema Club have cemented their position as one of Ireland’s finest live indie rock bands.
Strictly 18 plus and photo ID will be required.

Donations of children’s fiction and non-fiction would be gratefully received prior to the event.

Parkgate Donkey Day 2019 will take place on Saturday, September 14. This is a great family day out for everyone.
There will be live music, a pet show, vintage vehicles, donkeys, a kids’ tractor race, stalls, bouncy castles and slides, as well as children’s games and attractions, pony rides, a pygmy goat show and a petting farm.

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is calling on people to put on their boots and take part in a Forget Me Not Walk up Slieve Donard.
This is to raise funds in memory of their loved ones.
The charity is holding the walk on Saturday, September 14, from 10am to 4pm and the money raised will help support people affected by cancer.

On 20th September the UK Student Climate Network is calling on everyone – adults, workers, community groups, trade unionists, nurses, teachers, to join in a global climate strike. People in Belfast will be joining those all around the world in what’s set to be a massive day of climate action.
Rally participants will have a chance to deliver a clear message for climate justice just three days before the UN emergency climate summit on 23 September.
People have been taking to the streets every month since February to call on the government and those in positions of power to take the necessary steps to tackle the climate crisis and create a better world.
